I want to learn to play the guitar, but is it easier to learn on an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar?
I'm looking to buy one, but I need advice first for the acoustic or electric guitar.
Electric guitars are easier to learn because the strings aren't as tough and it isn't as hard on the fingers. You learn faster because you can hit the notes and just move on.
Even though electric is easier, a lot of people learn on acoustic. Acoustic is harder to play, but once you've learned acoustic you can play both acoustic and electric with no problems.
If you learn on electric and you decide you want to play acoustic later on, it will be harder for you and you may take time to get used to it.
Over all, it really depends on what type of music you play. If you play music, songs by P!nk, All American Rejects and other bands you want to learn electric, but if you decide to play slower, easier songs you may want to learn on acoustic.
If you get bored, or have trouble sticking with something if you don't advance quickly, the acoustic guitar is not for you. Electric would be better here, no matter what type of music you are playing.
GOOD LUCK(:

Electric.
For one, electric is cooler. And it sounds better when you actually learn. And the sounds are easier to remember. Easier to tune also.

electric strings do not need to have a high tention to maintain their tuning, so this can make it easier to play chords when you are begining. when i first started i found practicing barr chords was a lot easier on electric. that being said their are some disadvantages to playing electric, you need to use an amp to hear it fully, and electric guitars pick up all the tiny little inperfections in your playing that acoustic guitars would not. if you play stuff with distortion go for the electric, but if you play acoustic songs (not to hard to see where im going with this one) you should learn acoustic guitar, dont try to attempt to play acoustic songs on a clean channel of an electric guitar, because it is very VERY difficult to get your electring having the 'twang' of an acoustic guiitar
