what are the advantages/disadvantages of a lefty playing the guitar right handed on a standard instrument?
I want to learn to play guitar and I am left handed. are there any leftys that play right handed out there? In your opinion which way is better? What about playing a right handed instrument upside down al la jimi hendrix?
Really you should learn to play left handed as you'll find it much easier in the long haul. I'm not a lefty but I have had many discussions with lefty players over the years.
Left handed electric guitars are harder to find and not all models come with in a left handed version. However with a proper lefty guitar the tone and volume controls, tremelo arm (crank) if fitted will be in their correct place.
Hendrix played a right handed instrument because he couldn't find any lefty instruments at the time.

My advice is to think about what feels most natural to you. If you have been inclined to play air guitar righty then maybe righty is best. I know some excellent players who write left handed but play guitar right handed. From a practical standpoint, most guitars are righty so if you have to borrow a guitar at some point, the odds are you’ll have to use a righty (so it’s always better to be a righty.
There are plenty of left handed guitars available out there, so you don’t have to flip a right handed guitar. Check out LeftysGuitar.com for starters.

It's not a big deal. Just make sure you do it right. Right handed guitars are cheaper. Just string it backward and go to town.

def try to play right handed. there arent many lefty guitars out there. as for playing a righty guitar left handed, it could work but would be hard because the cutaway would be on the wrong side thus making it difficult to reach the upper frets. if ur gonna try it tho, go with an epi sg (epi cuz i assume ur on a budget since ur just starting off and the sg cuz its a double cutaway style guitar). tht might work. still, try to play righty.
peace
