Some tips on playing guitar?

Ok so I just started to achully play guitar this July, I got a guitar for my birthday, Is there any pointers on playing, any simple songs? and I know to play 2 hours a day 7 days a week, ya ya ya.

be sure to learn your basic chords….A B C D E F G….also learn how to put them in a progression….for example, if you learn 3 chords such as A E and D, that go together, its a progression…you can play almost ANY song in the world using only those 3 chords…good luck!! also, learn to read tabs and put what you learn to memory…its easy to learn, its like reading a graph….you dont need to learn how to read music to read tab charts….

one more thing, a capo is a very useful tool to have if you want to play along with certain songs while you are listening to them…its only about 20 dollars to purchase…

one last thing, get whats called a "fake book" from your local music store…in it you will find lyrics as well as instruction on "where" exactly to change chords….above the lyrics, when it gives you a chord change, the is a little box that shows you where to place your fingers to make that particular chord….its easier to just go look at them than it is for me to try to explain it….dont give up!!! if i can do it, anyone can…

well, i wasnt finished answering the question before you gave a thumbs down!!! now i wish i hadnt used the effort it took to answer you…whats wrong with todays youth??? if you dont learn to listen to advise that YOU ask for, you will never get any better and it would serve you right…

Honestly the first answer is spot on. There is no short cut. You have to be willing to have a good attitude about it and take it seriously if you ever want to learn. Playing guitar is not like playing a video game. It takes real talent and there are no cheat codes for that!!!

I am in pretty much the same position as you although have had my guitar a lil bit longer. The big thing is to learn to read tabs it will make your life a lot easier. I say this because when ever you want to learn a song, that is the way it will be. Also another thing LEARN TO TUNE YOUR GUITAR! you will be amazed at the difference it makes. One last thing if you are playing your guitar as often as you claim, be sure to change the strings every once and a while ( 1 - 2 months ) Any way hope this helps!
