I want to start playing guitar? Any tips?

I’ve been facinated by the guitar for a while, I don’t know if it’s a phase I’m going through. I would like to start. Any tips?

First off you can get all the information you need from great websites on the internet. If you are looking into getting a guitar the first thing you need to consider is if you want an electric or an accoustic guitar. Watch videos on youtube looking at both too see what style music you might want to play, or choose based off of what you listen to. Remembering that if you want to play electric you have to spend a few dollars more for the amp and cord to play through. Once you’ve decided that, decide if you want lessons or want to try it by watching videos or a book. Youtube.com, Wholenote.com, Guitarnoise.com all have great articles to get you started and most people are willing to help you out. You can get decent deals from guitar shops or pawn shops for used guitars. Most guitarist are late on rent and pawn off whatever they can when times are slow. :P j/k
In any case the best way to learn is with a teacher, and they usually cost about 12-25 for a half hour lesson that you normally take once a week. Be prepared for sore/tender finger tips that take time to break in. Know that practicing 15-30 minutes a day is better than practicing 3 hours once a week.
You can probably get started for under 150 easily, maybe even less if you know where to look on craigslist or ebay etc. Good luck

Some experts say you should learn to touch guitar strings before you press them or squeeze them too hard (or too soft.) Jamie Andreas is the authority on this subject. And you can find free, step by videos at slowguitarlessons.com.
