Can you guys give me tips on playing guitar hero for an expert?

There are many ways to get better playing this game.

1) Make sure when you strum, you are strum up and down, not just pressing it down constantly. This will make things way easier as you get better.

2) Make sure your pinky is the one touching the orange button. It should switch between the blue and the orange. You will have to get use to this, but it will work.

3) Try the songs that are difficult on "practice" mode first. Also try slowing them down a notch, till you have the right keys.

Hope this helps!!

I want to start playing guitar? Any tips?

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I’ve been facinated by the guitar for a while, I don’t know if it’s a phase I’m going through. I would like to start. Any tips?

First off you can get all the information you need from great websites on the internet. If you are looking into getting a guitar the first thing you need to consider is if you want an electric or an accoustic guitar. Watch videos on youtube looking at both too see what style music you might want to play, or choose based off of what you listen to. Remembering that if you want to play electric you have to spend a few dollars more for the amp and cord to play through. Once you’ve decided that, decide if you want lessons or want to try it by watching videos or a book. Youtube.com, Wholenote.com, Guitarnoise.com all have great articles to get you started and most people are willing to help you out. You can get decent deals from guitar shops or pawn shops for used guitars. Most guitarist are late on rent and pawn off whatever they can when times are slow. :P j/k
In any case the best way to learn is with a teacher, and they usually cost about 12-25 for a half hour lesson that you normally take once a week. Be prepared for sore/tender finger tips that take time to break in. Know that practicing 15-30 minutes a day is better than practicing 3 hours once a week.
You can probably get started for under 150 easily, maybe even less if you know where to look on craigslist or ebay etc. Good luck

What are some tips for playing guitar standing up?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I play with the guitar by my waist in front of me. But sometimes I think it’s too low, or is it because my wrist has not yet been accustomed to it? Sometimes the big E string covers all of the other strings so I can’t see them, but that’s normal right? Any tips?

Well, I have a couple suggestions. To solve the "guitar may be too low" problem, start with it kind of high, and then gradually lower it. every time you practice guitar, pull out another inch (or less) of strap. if you do this well, your wrist should slowly get accustomed to it. If you are doing it well, you shouldn’t be able to tell the difference from day to day. As for not being able to see the strings, this is something that i think stops a lot of guitar players from reaching their full potential. So, the best way to handle this is to not need to look at the strings. Practice guitar in the dark, so that you cannot easily see the strings. After a while you will get used to playing without looking at the strings, and then you won’t need to be able to look at them any more. If you are like me, after a while you will be able to FEEL the guitar.

Thanks for the tips so far, all of them seem to be working a little better than what it was.

try playing it first and getting it down. then try humming while you play move to moving ur lips then try singing the chorus then try singing the whole song… you can skip steps of course..

Acoustic guitar playing! Facts, tips, websites. Please please answer 10 points!?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I just started playing guitar. At school my schedule changed so I came in 3 weeks after the class started, not knowing a thing or what to do! The teacher wasn’t the best so i learned from another student, she was one of the best ones in the class and luckily i just happened to sit next to her! After time though i’ve gotten better and now im like one of the best also! So far we have learned the cords and plucking. The teacher has put on this Mac garage band video but it’s really fast and kind of dumb. On it though she’s shown us the blues/jazz thing and pentatonic scale. We’ve never done it though. Sadly the hexter is almost over and im really sad about that :( . So i decided that i really really want to continue playing outside of the classroom. Previously i had bought a guitar around 7 years ago, so it’s pretty small! I practice on that one but i wish to get a bigger, newer one with cool colors or designs soon. Maybe heading to my local music store. I want to know more about it though before i go their. What are the types of guitars? Does it matter the size and other stuff? Also i don’t know if my parents can get me a private teacher or somethings so any websites on stuff like that? With my guitar my goals are to be able to play really well and maybe write songs on it. So any facts, tips or websites would be just so helpful and appreciated!

In advance thank you so much!

For Acoustic guitar I have a Yamaha that does the jobs, sounds pretty good, and isn’t to expensive

For Online lessons go to justinguitar.com he has a great beginner course and sections on chords, scales, songs, and more

New at guitar and would like some tips?

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Newbie at acoustic guitar :)
It’s actually getting all tuned right now and the strings replaced.

I would appreciate anything helpful and interesting.

stuff like;
-guitar care tips
-playing tips
-how to read music.

I don’t know anything about guitar haha.
Please and thanks.

Take your time, like anything start out with the basics. When you begin don’t just read tabs make sure you read and learn proper music notation, because it contains more timing and other things and it will help you if you move on to other instruments.
Try learning finger picking and using a pick, the move ways you play the better.

Overall just try to have fun because that’s what it is all about

How do you keep from strumming notes you don’t want to strum when playing a guitar chord? Any tips?

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

I play acoustic guitar. I’m teaching myself guitar, so I DON’T HAVE A TEACHER. Whenever I play a chord I always end up hitting a string I’m not supposed to hit. Do your hands eventually adjust and stop hitting the wrong strings or is there something I should do?

you need to block that string with another finger, so that when you strum it doesn’t make a sound. to do this touch the string with an empty finger, but don’t press it down to the fret board. try it and see if it works!

Does anyone have any tips for playing the guitar and singing at the same time?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

My girlfriend bought me a guitar for my birthday, and I have spent the last 4 months teaching myself to play it. I’m coming along slowly but surely, but one thing that I can’t master is singing at the same time as playing it.

The moment I try and sing, my rhythm/strumming pattern completely disappears, and it’s really really frustrating me.

Does anyone have any tips that could help me out?

Thanks

Spend a little time learning to count the song out. this is difficult at first, but it helps your muscle memory and you won’t have to pay so much attention while you’re trying to sing along.

The other thing to notice is that you don’t need to strum much at all while you are actually singing–you bring it on more in between lines, and during breaks between verses. This sort of give and take between singing and playing is one of the hallmarks of an accomplished player. If you pay attention to some of the greats, you’ll see what I mean.

Good luck. It only gets easier with practice.

Definitely learn to count, though.
